Dreadfleet Battle Report: Part 2

By November 30, 2015July 26th, 2019Battle Reports, Miniatures Games, Videos

That’s not true. I am not obsessed with treasure.

The epic battle on the high seas continues as we continue to explore all facets of the question: is Dreadfleet crap?

As you can see in parts one and two of this rediscovery of Games Workshop’s Dreadfleet, Will and I appear to be having quite a good time so far. So has the game received unwarranted abuse? Perhaps it’s actually a great game, sadly overlooked by gamers worldwide, unjustly decried by people who just never got around to painting the ships and getting the game on the table?

Stay tuned folks, because there’s one more episode to go in this series, and at the end of the battle we’ll let you know our final conclusions!

Any comments about Games Workshop are my own and do not necessarily reflect the view of the Esoteric Order of Gamers. All mentions of Games Workshop and Dreadfleet and any of the characters or ships in Dreadfleet are TM, registered, copyright and completely and utterly the property of Games Workshop and no ownership is implied or suggested and in no way is any offence intended towards the very nice hardworking people and lawyers at Games Workshop.

Despite your misgivings about this game, you seem to be enjoying it. It seems to play a lot like X-Wing, but a bit more random.

    • I’ve actually always had fewer misgivings than the wider gaming community seemed to have had – hence all the effort I put into painting the ships. But more about that next episode!

Your Dreadfleet table looks spectacular. great work with the model painting and love the way you’ve matched the ship bases with the game mat. If you find you really do like the game maybe you could do the same with the rocks as they would look great with foamy wavy bits around their bases too.

You two certainly appear to be having heaps of fun so far…. poor dice rolling aside.

  • Lobosolo says:

Will had 6 dice at 3+ at the end of the video. He rolled 3 hits…right? Why was he so distraught?

    • That’s a good question! A 50% success rate is nothing to be sneezed at. Perhaps he was expecting a more devastating attack with 6 dice, since his ship was rapidly being ripped apart by the Kraken …

  • Will Belford says:

…I can only assume I was expecting to need a 5 or 6. I blame the piece-of-string command chain.
