Hot rain falls down upon a cold, rotting city. Here the Yugai, a species of militant humanoids, leave the survivors of the worlds they have ransacked and destroyed.

Plaid Hat Games have been going from strength to strength and this new, very different game from them doesn’t disappoint. It’s flown under the radar somewhat which is a shame, but City of Remnants is definitely worth purchasing and and playing for its interesting mix of deckbuilding, area control and combat.

The EOG rules summary is below for your downloading enjoyment, as is a set of plans so you can create your own custom-designed box insert out of foamcore.

  • I feel this game is in need of an insert. I’ve played a few times and the set up/tear down is a bit long. Also there are so many bits like the ARCs, renown, product tokens, minis, etc. that would benefit greatly from having little containers. I think something like the Bioshock Infinite insert would be perfect. I have made 1 insert before, for Descent 2.0, and it turned out well after a bit of trial and error, but I don’t think I could design an insert from scratch. Any help would be appreciated!

The foam core plans look great! My building tiles are in need of a place of their own. Will the card slots fit sleeved cards?

    • Universal Head says:

I’m sorry, they probably won’t. Making versions to accommodate sleeved and non-sleeved cards would be a shortcut to madness! I don’t sleeve cards, personally, and these are made originally for me, so I haven’t made allowance for the larger size.

If this isn’t suitable, why not try designing your own? Check out my foamcore videos and get cracking! It’s a lot easier than you think.
