Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game v1

Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game

Me? I’ve had so many names. Old names that only the wind and the trees can pronounce.

Feel like a spot of dungeoncrawling but short on time? Whip out the Warhammer Quest: The Adventure Card Game rules summary and reference sheet.

Though saddled with an overly long and clunky name, shoe-horned into a licenced theme, and Frankensteined together from mechanics borrowed from other FGG games, WQ:TACG (sigh) is still a fun dungeoncrawling card game that’s also enjoyable when played solo. Players are already crying out for more cards and more scenarios, and I think we can all safely assume FFG with happily drop more tidbits into our craning mouths like a mother bird feeding her starving chicks.

Choose an action for your character (hello Space Hulk Death Angel: The Card Game!), roll some dice, explore, rest, aid or attack, move on to a new location (hi there The Lord of The Rings: The Card Game!) … am I sounding a little jaded? Well, maybe. It’s a good game, I just don’t know if it will be lovingly taken down from the shelf for years to come with that thrill of anticipation that characterises a wonderful game. But more positively, there is a real sense of party cooperation, the artwork is excellent, and the decisions are meaningful. The game sets out to provide and dungeoncrawling experience in a card game and within that narrow framework, it does it well.

Ahhhh… Too late! I’ve already made my own 🙁

    • You’ve made your own summary? I’ve created disciples who are making me obsolete! 🙂

LOL! I did look to see if you’d done one or not. But since you hadn’t, I made my own.

To be fair, it’s very specific to my needs and what I wanted to remember. Compared to yours which is more general for everyone. Which is why I didn’t post mine to share.

Now I’ll probably by using yours anyway 😀

Have downloaded and read. Excellent as usual. Not sure if you want to include the following:

    1. Under Quest setup, 1st para: might want to mention you start the quest able to equip 1 gear, even though you start with no gear cards?

    2. Under “6. Apply Results” (of combat): might want to add something like “shields don’t block damage from nemesis effects”?

    3. Under “Location Phase”, 3rd para: might want to add “active, engaged enemies travel with you”?
