ParticipantDropped out of Song KS.
Saw the release schedule for it and at launch there will be the starter and four units, so I’m guessing 4 units in the KS and may not all be free stretch goals.
$150 is too expensive with too little variety for my liking. And given the amount I spent on Hordes/Warmachine… a poor choice to get involved. Plus the postage of course. And dice mechanics are a bit GW-ish.
Carnevale looks more appealing, as the 3D terrain makes it interesting. The manoeuvre trays in Song make 3D terrain impractical. And as I just freed up $150+ I can take another look at that skirmish game which has free UK postage 🙂

ParticipantGo for Carnevale…great game with a great KS…the scenery stuff from them gets better and better 🙂

ParticipantI am taking a wait and see approach to ASoIaF – Tabletop Miniatures Game. While I LOVE the IP, I am not particularly fond of tray movement.
Initially I was pretty a “no” for backing this game.
Then after watching the Watch it Played video, it did get me a little more interested in the game mechanics.ASoIaF seems like a more streamlined Warhammer Fantasy Battles game. If it garners more stretch goals that actually have play value (not the alt. sculpts!!) – you may get a KS game that can be very playable out of the box that is fairly easy to set up and has no miniature assembly (which is a BIG plus for me). Because CMON KS exclusives are almost never released by them in retail – you can probably sell the ks alt. sculpts to defray some of the cost of the game.
I have not even played my Battles of Westeros game yet – because i have not glued the mini’s to their bases (I know that is pretty lazy, but i just am not into the “modeling” aspect of the hobby). That is one of the reasons why AT-43 and Confrontation Ragnarok appealed to me so much (the pre-painted minis).
So I will be watching this KS closely till the end, and make a decision at that point whether or not to buy in!

ParticipantGlad I dropped out of Song. If I was to buy in to addons of units, dice and terrain I’d be adding $264 to base pledge of $150… and there’s still 17 days to go.
I reckon close to a $1000 by the end.
And the terrain seems odd. Not exactly compatible with movement trays.

ParticipantI agree 100% with the terrain. Not sure what CMON was thinking there?

ParticipantBeen checking in on Song periodically… stalled on stretch goals at the moment and the comments section has some complaints about entry price into the game and how they need more units as stretch goals instead of addons.
Madness really…
Starter box plus the seven units as addons = $360
Two starter boxes with the same units and two of every stretch goal = $300August 1, 2017 at 9:04 am #14741Universal Head
KeymasterVery strange, you’d think CMON would have nailed this stuff by now. But everyone’s trying to increase their profit margins. I would have thought to introduce a new game in this crowded market you’d make the initial Kickstarter offering very attractive to get people hooked. Basic pusher/casino technique really!

ParticipantIt looks like CMON has next put up stretch goals of partial units of Stark Longbowmen and Casterly Rock Knights.
If continued funding fills out complete units of both of these – this KS is looking more appetizing to me by the day!! These full units will retail for $30 each. The more full (and different) units are going to be included as stretch goals in the kickstarter – the better!August 4, 2017 at 9:26 pm #147558th
ParticipantI make it $354 in addons now and they are crawling through stretch goals. The second and third ‘free units’ are only partially unlocked.
cmon got too greedy on this one I think.

ParticipantFinal 48 hours and now there are over $500 in addons. Units, 3D terrain, three battlemats, dice, rulers etc.
It makes FFG’s Runewars look cheap!

KeymasterDear oh dear.

ParticipantI am still on the fence about this one. I know the # of add-ons are ridiculous.
But the base game pledge IMHO seems to have shaped up to be a pretty damn good deal with all the extras. The problem is if a person was to get just the base box pledge – will they be satisfied. It does come with alot of stuff, but i really don’t want to start having to get everything and have this become a lifestyle game for me.
