So I got a crazy, quixotic idea… as if 5 factions in WoK aren’t enough, I had to go add a 6th: The Scorpions/Dirz from Confrontation: Age of the Ragnarok. Partly because the models are so cool. Partly because there are very few infantry with ranged attacks in the existing WoK factions and I wanted to see what would happen once ranged troops are added into the mix.
Anyway, here’s a WIP of what I’ve done so far:
Even though this list is still a WIP, those entries marked with (???) are ESPECIALLY WIP.
Let me know if any of you have thoughts, ideas, feedback, suggestions. All are welcome 🙂May 16, 2015 at 2:13 pm #9399
Great idea – the Dirz have so much character.
Are your ranged troops mainly the Crossbowmen and Hybrids ?
Selecting the link brings up an Error(400) for Dropbox on my home PC.May 16, 2015 at 3:09 pm #9400
Hmmm… I think it’s due to the way this forum software truncates the links. The link still works, but you need to cut and paste the entire link instead of clicking on it.
Sorry about that.
Yeah, the Dirz have so much character and the background fluff is awesome. I’m still writing it out based on the Confrontation fluff.
Crossbowmen, Hybrids, Ysis.
Wait till you see the Evolutions and the Primes as specialists. Insane! I may need to either dial them down a bit or make them more expensive, but without playtesting, I can’t be sure. (My Confrontation minis are still making their way to me from all over the world).May 17, 2015 at 8:38 pm #9402
Very impressive. You must have had fun and a lot of effort deciding on models and abilities.
Pity C4 didn’t get around to including Thissan Ka as a leader for the Sentinals.
He is the only one with a shield (Meriaghen’s Shield) a bit like a Hakar. He had the ability to heal a wound instead of inflict damage on a counter attack.
Arkeon Sanath another Sentinal character who was able to make pursuit movement if he killed his opponent with his word axe. Translated into WoK he could possibly wipe out a unit of 1 or 2 wound infantry if they were within 2″ and was rolling enough overpowers or stikes.May 18, 2015 at 12:56 am #9403
Thanks. Yeah, it was a lot of fun. Makes me wish I had my Dirz models with me now so I can playtest them.
Thanks also for the heads-up WTR Thissan Ka. He is a beast! He’d be a Rank 3 Leader under WoK stats otherwise he’d be too overpowered for a Rank 2.May 18, 2015 at 4:20 pm #9419
Strangely that link didn’t mind some space (%) characters, but didn’t accept one of them.May 18, 2015 at 4:24 pm #9420
This is a great idea, I wish I had time to playtest such things but getting a ‘normal’ game of anything in is hard enough let along spending that time playtesting!May 18, 2015 at 10:03 pm #9421
The forum software split the link because it was too long.
I should have actually used the link code at the top of this box rather than just cut and paste.
I think.May 18, 2015 at 10:04 pm #9422
Yup. That worked perfectly.
Live and learn 😉June 5, 2015 at 4:54 pm #9582
Yay! My Dirz Confrontation have begun to trickle in, so… time to get cracking on those unit stat cards.June 9, 2015 at 11:33 pm #9635
OK, first draft done. Several Inspires, Special Abilities, Training etc. are still WIP, and have (???) text to indicate this.
Would love to get feedback.June 10, 2015 at 10:09 am #9636
Wow, this is seriously impressive work CK. How did you manage to work out what results to put in the dice tables?
When I get some time I must compare these to the original Confrontations stats and abilities because I’m curious to see how you’ve translated them. It must really bring home how difficult it is to create these armies, to make them balanced and yet have distinctive personalities.
When you say ‘creature’, does that mean ‘specialist’, or is it a new category?
I only wish I had more time to playtest these; if I could play tabletop wargames once a week I’d be able to, but at the moment I only get out the armies when my opponent Will visits, which is just a few times a year!
Damn nice work! I hope someone here can help you with playtesting.
