KeymasterNew stuff!
Two Hammers of Heaven:
… and two Shields of Taelfon (always makes me think of teflon):
The Hammers actually don’t have little bike shorts on the sculpt – I’m not sure what they’re supposed to be really, but the wrinkles look like cloth rather than skin (leggings?) – but the picture in the book has them with the black shorts and I thought it looked hilarious, like TV wrestlers.

ModeratorVery striking (haha). WHat do you use for the scenic bases? Assuming the minis don’t come out of the box with these,

ParticipantOh…never seen those before…are they KS exclusives…or did I just miss a box af specialists/characters???
The hammers could really be a WWF tag team 😉August 9, 2017 at 8:57 am #14791Universal Head
KeymasterThe bases take a little longer than usual as they are ‘wells’. I put a magnet in them, fill them with gap filler, let it dry a bit, super glue a bit of bark on top, and do the usual texturing. The bark is only for the leaders and specialists.
These come together in a box, though I got 2 of each with the Kickstarter: https://www.miniaturemarket.com/cmnwok03006.html

KeymasterHere’s the latest from the painting desk – The Red Willow and Hong Yao:
I must say, whoever painted the characters above for CMON did an amazing job. The detail is very tiny and you can see my work looks a little rough in these very close up pictures; however their paint jobs are impeccable. I just can’t bring myself to take that amount of time on minis for the gaming table anymore, and these look absolutely fine from a normal viewing distance.
… and at last, nine Children of Wrath! Great chunky fighting figures.

ParticipantGreat stuff…..WoK is the one Kickstarter that I regret not having backed!

KeymasterThe ladies in reeeeeeddddd ….
Twelve Iron Lotus Warriors and two Black Lotus leaders. Just a bit more to do and Shael Han will be completely finished!
Shame about the dancing pose of the Black Lotus warriors. Those war fans don’t look very threatening.

ParticipantYou really do put my painting skills to shame. Do you have a magic shrinking machine so you become the same size of the mini while you paint?

KeymasterCheers. 🙂 The head loupe helps, it really magnifies things a lot and makes the detail easy to do. I once checked with an optometrist that it wasn’t ruining my eyesight, but he seemed to think it wouldn’t do any damage!

ParticipantI have a desk magnifier with lamp that revealed how poor my brush skills were before and helped improve a bit, but your shading makes them look good.
Is it highlighting or washes mostly?
September 4, 2017 at 9:31 pm #14959Universal Head
KeymasterI let washes do the shading. All I do are base coats and highlighting.
