Wow this looks like TONS of work! Well done so far both of you. I hope you can keep at it long enough.

I’m also interested in hearing something about the game itself once you are ready with this mammoth.

Some things seem like a good idea until you actually start doing them.

All the bases now have been coated in a layer of diluted PVC glue to hold the grit and kitty-litter in place. All Hadross have been primed white and and the base a coat of pale sand colour.
Blocked out some colour on 6 Union pig-men & their boss, also the Zaalaks (who look like they should really be in the Hadross faction), a Defender and the Hadross Calith Reavers.

Finally put a tail on the Fulung Devourer with hot water treatment to bend it up back on itself to reduce the space the model takes up on the table.

Sent off an email to Coolmini about the missing Leader/Specialist cards on Sunday and rec’d a reply they’ll ship them off sometime in the future.

Mr U.Head – have you had any updates about your missing starter pack replacement ?

Yes, I contacted them and the person I dealt with seemed pretty efficient and friendly. I haven’t got a ticket yet but I’m not in a hurry.

My Nasier are rocking along pretty well, I’ll have some more progress photos up soon.

I’m kind of glad I’m only doing one faction at a time, it would all be too daunting otherwise!

Now base coated the Teknes. Maybe painting the Zaalak before attaching to the base would have been a much smarter idea also painting the figure before attaching him to the octopus.

I was trying a bit of a test game with the pigmen and notice the Union Boss with sword out to the side is a bit of a pain to position as the sword sticks out quite a way, some of the Union Workers have a similar problem. I think I will need to do some hotwater bending therapy to try and re-position the sword arms into a more vertical orientation for game play before further painting. I will need to examine the infantry and their leaders in terms of game friendly poses. The Specialists should be ok.

Good point! Will check that out myself.

Finally finished undercoating everything. Have come to the conclusion I don’t like Vellejo White primer as much as the brick red or sand ones as it is no as opaque and has an odd perfumed smell.

Some of the arms of the smaller human infantry(Dragon Legionaire Leader, Ashman Hakar) don’t bend with hot water they just break. Using hot water to flop the ears down on some Wolfmen gives them an amusing new look. Also decided to convert one of the Skorza Alpha into a female & one of the Linemen Controllers into Defender Raeth Sevisk.

I can’t go past Games Workshop primer, though it is disgustingly priced here at NZ$31 a can. I tried Army Painter and didn’t like it. GW seems to be consistently the best primer, unfortunately for my wallet.

I’ve done all the base colours for the Nasier, so I just have the highlights and trims to do for 17 swordsmen, 4 other unique figures, and the very large Greathorn. Getting there!

The thought of going through all this for another four factions seems insane! Luckily my opponent Will is working on the Goritsi, so I won’t have anything else to paint for our first game next month.

CMoN has some WoK boxes up in its shop.
    https://www.coolminiornot.com/shop/catalog/category/view/s/wrath-of-kings/id/912/

The Character (Specialist) boxes contain two of the free ones that came with the KS Starter Add-ons set and the free specialist you received if you ordered the KS two Leaders box.
For example in Teknes you get Boris, Taur (from the KS Starter add-ons) & Sorick(from the KS two leaders set).
Making for a bit of a dilemma if you picked AncientKing but not the Leader sets from the KickStarter.
Looks like I may convert one of the three rank 1 leaders to use as rank 2 for some factions.

So they must be intending to release a rank 2 Leaders box in the future.
Teknes would be Sevisk, Gulraast (from the KS two leaders set) & Timoshkin(KS Starter Add-ons).
The 3rd Infantry choice boxes aren’t up yet. So the Shark boys & FellHammers will have to wait.

Well that completely sucks because that’s what I did, and I’m not buying two useless uniques to get one. These people are really annoying sometimes, that really doesn’t take much thought to work out. They will only lose sales as a result.

Still slowing just doing some basic painting. Having a hard time trying to concentrate on any particular faction at the moment the big problem with having the whole lot assembled.

I was listening to a podcast about WoK and the general consensus was to take as many leaders as possible for the army size as it can be crippling to loose a leader and the flexibility of combined actions.
So the question will be is a rank2 Leader worth two rank1s in a given battle ?

However you can use the Leader to activate several groups of infantry even if the leader has already had its go in a round as long as they are in its control zone. Not so good if the opposing army like to have packed formations to fight against.

I’m getting close to finishing the Nasier but it’s become a bit tedious, especially doing the 18 swordsmen. I have to dial back my perfectionism a bit and do a rougher job – they’re for gaming, not display, after all! The large monster figure (the Greathorn) was quite fun to paint though.

That first game will certainly be interesting! I’ll be playing it and filming the game at the end of this month.

I can’t wait to see how your epic conflict with Will goes in WoK. Also how it compares to your games of Confrontation Age of Ragnorok.

I’m intending to do the base colours on the infantry groups as a whole but maybe work on them in their 3 or 6 + leader figure groups so they may retain a type of unit flavour. Well that is the plan.
