Soooo..on the topic of the sculpt beeing shit…what makes it so in your eyes. I have a bit of a problem with the quality part…besides the actual material…what makes a quality sculpt…and what does not. I have no art backround what so ever.
For me…this one has a rare pose…quite dynamic…which is a plus in my book. I imagine her standing on top of a small rock…looking down on the battlefield…wind blowing….or without the base…standing in front of a huge beast getting its foul smelling roar right into her face. Might not be the most generic pose…but what makes it shit?
And also…this is a fantasy world…so with magic and strange races ect. I find it difficult to take arguments about “realistic” as valid. It might be magic that swirles unnatural around here….or she is not a standard human…so the physic is a bit different…and so on.
Lastly…what if the sculptor just took a bit of artistic freedome to make it more dynamic…and less realistic in regards of the wind blowing into the clothes for example? When is it good…when bad?
And to come around to my starting comment. I find that most often…if someone does not like a sculpt…its “backed” with “this or that beeing unrealistic” reasons..and those same reasons are overlooked if the sculpt is liked.
I do not have a problem with “I do not like it”…but with “reasons” that are no reasons more often than not.
Sorry…quite long…but hopfully understandable what I want to express.
Ah well then…another lesson for a non-nativ english speaker….and a bit of the usual “reading only” drawback….no voice and gestures to go along. I will try to remember the fine differences in beeing “shit” in the future 😉
And yes..it is a positive place around here…the reason I do actually take part in…I don´t do that much.
And I too find it very important to have passionate opinions you can back up with good reasoning. But I also believe that arguments should be held in a respectfull way….a thing that is very often not the case…especialy on the internet.
And that was the kind of respect I was talking about…not for what they do with ther products ect…more in the way we should treat each other. Not sure if I express that right in english…but hope its understandable.
I do not think that this is a great mini…but sorry UH…”with what is truly a shit sculpt. I can’t imagine why it ever got approved” is a bit to much for me…it sound just disrespektfull…and maybe its just me not wanting to have such “extrems” in my hobbytime…real world is much to much on the extreme side for my taste to have something like this in my personal retreat space….if that makes sense to you. No offence…but not my cup of tea to be this kinda negative. I want my hobby to be positive.
Interesting…playing with toy soldiers in a fantasy world full of unlogic things…and all is great…but getting back to realistic arguments when something is not done “the right way” aka “I do not like it”…amazes me.
Very nice stuff!!! And quite fast too…amazing!

So…is it actually your first build, paint, play TT game? If not…what did you play in the past?
(Chorus) Hi Ralf! ;-P
First of…stunning minis!
I am also tip-toeing around….because this game does something I always wanted in a tactical minis game. You do not now what your opponent will do in advance! I wrote in another forum some 18 months ago that my dreamgame would have something like the dial system from x-wing. And this one has it finally! In my oppinion “I do all of my actions with all of my stuff…then you do all your actions with all the stuff you have left over” is not an option. “I go – you go” and some “reaction based varients” are much better…but you still see clearly what and when your opponent is doing something….and can plan accordingly. With the dials you have to think hard and outthink your opponent much more…what do I commit to achieve a certain goal…because I do not know that I do not kill this unit with my unit last turn….I have to have a plan B or C if it fails…and so on…that has great impact on the game…if you fail it could ruin your plans…if you suceed it might win the game…so much more anticipation…and meaning…not only dice roles decide…you do…and with all that…ultimatly…I imagine…MORE FUN!
But UH has some valid points…with mainly the money reason holding me back tbh…so please tell us what you expirenced with the game when you have played it…and what you think of the dials system! Thank you in advance! 🙂
This is def one of the KS that is trying so hard not to be a mantic/cmon KS that they went too far on the opposite side of it.
I am not a fan of tons of free stuff and exclusives as a “must” for a KS….but I do believe that backers should get something in return for the risk of financing. There are no exclusives or free minis to off-set shipping in this one. And the prices are marginal less than retail…if at all…so I really do think that this extreme to the other side did harm this KS.
Still like the flair of the setting and the minis enough to pay a bit more than usual 🙂
I am in because of the flair…not sure what to get in the end….but there is plenty of time to decide 🙂
