I can´t tell someone else if the price is worth it…thats up to each individualy. I have the big box with all the cards and tokens and like it. But I can say that all the stuff that makes it “different” is optional. If you do not like the dice-mechanic (like in SW) than do not use it. But if you give it a try…its a rather simple mechanic that “pushes” you from a combat oriented style to a more narrative style..while still fighting ;-). If that is not your cup of tea…also fine…you do not need it. The cards are the same thing…so much so that there is even a “normal” book without them. In essence they are the same as the gale force nine supplements to D&D…you have every information you need…be it items, spells or feats…at hand for easy reference…no bookflipping needed. I find it really cool and like 3rd for that. The only thing I have to complain about is the writing and editing of FFG…lets say that if you are used to writing that explains in depth but still is easy to understand and to the point, is build up in a logical order, easy to reference and has everything in one place…find another book. But that might be just me…I tend to get tired after the third time some not so importent info gets repeated for no reason when I am still waiting for some really vital info 😉

@CK Lai Is it worth getting with just base game and 2 expansions?

As far as I know Kill Team is around for a some time now. The fanmade expanded rules are free to get…for example here http://heralds-of-ruin.blogspot.de/

Small model count and RPG like developement for your individual models…really fun! As are nearly all story-driven RPG/skirmishers 😉

And to see it beeing played by an awesome guy..look here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q188JGbLpJw&list=PLzrPO7KIAtwXsamURXptmF8bIblKfZupe&index=16

And then go on look at more of his stuf…like mordheim…necromunda…this is not a test…and get hooked….but dont say I did not warn you guys ;-P

I like the Cmon games….Wrath of Kings has a unique and cool look for each faction…did not play it yet…so no idea if the rules are solid…but the look is great…and for me that is a good part of the fun.

Even more a fan of Dark Age…here minis and rules are top notch…and the “March to Imortality” organized play has great scenarios every year. Not like an ongoing, world changing campaigne…but Close enough for me 🙂

Maybe the will do something like that with WOK in the future too.

Is it good with just the base game…or does it need the expansions? On the fence with this game….

Near exact a year ago I wrote on BOW that I wanted to see a game that uses the dailing System of X-Wing to give simultanius commands at the beginning so you have to anticipate what your opponent will do…and so try to outsmart him…or horribly fail. Now we get Runewars….really looking forward to see more of this 🙂

Not a big fan of “I go – you go” Systems…especially with bad rules systems where you could get nearly whiped out before your turn…and even the alternate version still lets you choose the best action after you saw what your opponent did with a certain part of his force…still the better system…for me at least.

Now you could totaly mess up the positioning ect. because you took a gamble and failed….or hit jackpot with the right choices…could be fun 🙂

Think I read something about 2-3 pieces to put together…and as an easy entry system beeing a bit more “chunky” would fit.
Has a bit of a World of Warcraft feel to it too…and that might be appealing to lots of “soon to be tabletop players”…we will see 😉

Maybe the new Konflikt 47 Rules from Warlord Games due August give some solid rules as an alternative to use the nice Dust minis?!?

Waited for the new edition to get into the game…but had high hopes for better plastic kits then in the now old 2 player starter box…will have to wait if that colored stuff is really worth it.

Oh my…LCG´s…I really like how every game brought some familiar elements and combined them with new mechanics…so every LCG feels and plays different….so to make it short…I have them ALL.

There…I said it…so much for being a sucker/collector 😉 Despite them being a money grave and the usual storage Problems that come with the amount FFg puts out…they are all quite fun games to play. Every style of play is served…light and fast to slow and tactical….solo to multiplayer…fantasy or scifi. Sometimes I just go trough some of them to look at the great artwork and the bit of fluff. Sometimes getting ideas for my RPG´s or the spark for a new deck.

Played CCG´s since magic the gathering was born and tryed most of them until I got tired of the ever more expanding blind buy+strange raritys+quicker release tactics and some other reasons. LCG´s got me back in and I found that I like their way much more…so I am all in for the long run and looking forward to the next couple of games.
