Ouch! Good eye there mate. I hadn’t noticed, and there’s me talking up the graphic design…

Agreed, too much housekeeping for one game, and if you put a single card in the wrong spot during setup, you could inadvertently blow the whole scenario before you’d even started.

It seems the majority of 2e owners are buying aftermarket bases. That really sticks in my craw. This was not a cheap game, I daresay it’s overpriced for what you actually get, but I acknowledge that’s a subjective statement.
To have to turn around and re-engineer the game on your own coin because the supplied bases are (a) not a visually appealing component and (b) can’t do what they are intended to do because FFG have screwed the mold between 1e and 2e just makes my blood boil… more so because of FFGs indifference to the design/manufacturing fault

(I’ll get down off my /rant soapbox now, promise) 🙂

Thanks for the new summary Peter. Like you, I’ve got a soft spot for MoM 1e. I bought everything, including the PoD adventures, and never played a 10th of it. I would very much like to see those scenarios ported to the 2e app, but the way FFG has been changing since the Asmodee merger, I don’t hold a lot of hope for that.

Interesting thing that you commented on; The miniatures, which I found quirky and charming in 1e, look extremely tacky and puerile in 2e. Lump that in with monster stands that just wont take the cardboard tokens, and I ended up dissatisfied with the component quality of 2e, especially for the hefty price. FFG CS assured me that the bases function ‘within expectations’. Obviously, nobody there has broken out a retail copy to actually confirm that…

Lol-ing at your 80s cricketer reference! I thought the same thing when I painted my 1e cultists.

Nicely done. Any chance you could post the measurements for the construction?

Thanks so much for posting the plans for this. I was absolutely thrilled with the expansion Kickstarter. The coins are wonderful bling! Definitely draws a lot of ‘oohs and ahhhs’ even from non gamers. It’ll be nice to give everything an organised home in the box!

It’s been confirmed that the investigators in the expansion sets (which are the ones that came with 1e, are the same figures, but they are cast in one PVC piece (base and all), the same as the 2e base set. I assume that’s because they are cheaper to produce than mounting them on the styrene disc as they were in 1e and the premium miniatures range.

Some of the investigators that had been made for the premium range have a completely new figure in the 2e box. The Urchin (I’ve forgotten her name) is a totally new, and much better figure than the photo of the premium figure on FFGs website. The paint jobs didn’t do those figures any favours either.

The monster bases have been retooled as well. The slots are too narrow in the smallest size and the hooks are too big to hold the identifier tokens firmly. Why they changed them from 1e baffles me as the original bases were perfect…

I had to request a replacement set of the small bases, which FFG posted on Friday. There is no way the chits can be inserted into the ones that came in the 2e box without destroying them.

The game is fantastic, but the components… Ugh…
