Warhammer Age of Sigmar Month: Soul Wars Tutorial 1

This moment where the powers of Greyskull will become mine for eternity!

Let’s kick off Age of Sigmar month and a new series of tutorial videos. Starting with getting the plastic bits off the sprues and gluing them together into pleasing and useful configurations!

Age of Sigmar Month is upon us! And I must admit, if you’d told me I would be devoting so much time to Games Workshop’s new incarnation of Warhammer Fantasy Battles I would have scoffed at the notion. Me, spend all that money? For that shiny over-the-top fantasy game? Ha! well, it just goes to show that the line between cynicism and enthusiasm is very thin indeed, and just needs a pretty starter set full of ghosts to push me over it.

Yes, those ghosts … I love ’em! But the whole package is tempting, and will probably drag a lot of people back to the fold. And allow me to give you a little sneak peak of the whole upshot of this series – the game is actually quite fun, if you don’t mind rolling handfuls of dice and keeping track of scads of special abilities.

Anyway, let me take you on a journey through the building and painting of the contents of this set, in this 5-part series. This surfeit of riches will be capped with a battle report between me and a newbie to tabletop miniatures gaming, Dylan. It will be interesting to compare our opinions from our differing perspectives of experienced gamer (with this style of game) and newbie.

So, have you given in to the dark side and got this set? Let me know your experiences of building, painting and playing Warhammer Age of Sigmar: Soul Wars!

This new set has definitely made me interested in taking up Age of Sigmar. When GW destroyed the Old World I thought I would never support them again. Such a callous dismissal of what I felt was the greatest fantasy setting of any gaming system, with so much rich detail and heritage was just too painful. But, DAMN, those Nighthaunt models are so pretty! I still hate the new setting for AoS and those Sigmarines are just stupid, but I am prepared to give it another chance.
