The Joy of Unboxing: Batman Gotham City Chronicles

By May 27, 2019August 28th, 2019Boardgames, Unboxing, Videos

Sometimes it’s only madness that makes us what we are.

The EOG goes BIFF! BAM! KERPOW! over a brand new copy of Batman: Gotham City Chronicles by Monolith!

It’s finally here—Batman: Gotham City Chronicles survived a delivery mixup (a friend of mine got one of my boxes and I got one of his) no doubt engineered by the Joker, and here I am finally ripping off the shrink wrap RIIIPPP!!! and showing you what’s inside the two core sets, the Versus Mode expansion and the Wayne Manor expansion. Yep, there’s a whole lot of painting to be done. But fear not, I filmed this on Saturday and I’ve already finished about 20 figures. It’ll be done in no time!

I do not like masses of minis with games anymore…to much space needed…and do all those really add to the game experience? But if the game play is good I might go in late with the next KS. So I am really looking forward what you think of the game rules wise!

    • We played two games last night and it was a blast. It’s almost exactly the same as Conan, with a few very small refinements. At yet it feels very Batman, in fact a nice line between the gritty reality of Nolanesque Batman and the over-the-top set pieces of the 60s series. The heroes lost in both games we played, so it’s not easy for them! But we both agreed there was heaps of replayability in just those first 2 scenarios, and of course there’s a book full of them, not to mention different hero choices and equipment load outs. Very glad I got the game even though I already have Conan. And it’s very quick and easy to paint, the minis are not overly detailed.
