I’m fireproof. You’re not.
Let’s rip the shrink off a copy of Hellboy The Board Game by Mantic Games!
I don’t really have the time and inclination to keep up with the graphic novel world, but I’ve always been a huge fan of Hellboy. There’s something about the combination of beautiful, stylised Mike Mignola art, the sharp humour, and the mythological and supernatural storylines that really rings my bell. So I just couldn’t resist backing Mantic Games and their Hellboy The Board Game, even though I’d had some bad experiences with Mantic miniatures in the past.
Well, the huge Hellboy box appeared on my doorstep the other day, and I’m extremely happy to say it’s a very professional production indeed, with some of the nicest packaging for a miniatures game I’ve ever seen, and some damn tasty miniatures too! The plastic is good, the sculpts are good, and now I’m just hoping the gameplay stands up to the test. I’m getting it to the table tonight, so I’ll let you know.
In the meantime, check out the interior of this huge box. Let’s unbox it!
PS: I’ll be filming as I go through the process of painting all these miniatures—look out for the first episode of that series soon!
I’d love to see a player aid for this, the rulebook is really all over the place. It’s mostly all there, but definitely not laid out in a logical fashion.
I’ve almost finished a player aid. Yes, it drives me bonkers when publishers do things like put the setup section at the end of the rulebook! 🙂
