Obsessive attention to detail and werewolves! What more could you ask for? 🙂 I’m off to buy my ceramic tiles now, goodbye to the ratty old piece of newspaper from 2009!

Agree wholeheartedly with the white undercoat too, a black base makes every colour look thin and dark (not surprisingly). Looking forward to the next episode, I have 3rd-edition Space Hulk looming behind my shoulder saying “Paint me!”

By the way, the reason I have two tiles there, with the back sides facing each other, is that backside of the tile, for some reason, tends to get a bit mouldy if it gets at all damp (as does, probably, your sheet of 2009 newspaper!) Putting two tiles together in this way stops the problem.

Glad that set of Space Hulk is saying “Paint me!” rather than “Die alien heretic scum!”

I can’t believe I watched a whole video about figure painting. Fabulous! Can’t wait for the next instalment.

I am just about to finish painting all the monsters from the base game and alchemy expansion. These were the first miniatures I’ve ever painted, and it was a very enjoyable experience to learn how to do this and get a pretty decent end product. I’m very eager to see the rest of your videos and get new tips on different techniques (hoping for details on drybrushing and ink washes).
I’ve started on the heroes from super dungeon explore, different art style to mansions. It’s all very fun! Thanks for the great video, and keep them coming!

Thanks, glad you find it useful! I’ll definitely be covering the basic techniques, but these are pretty straightforward gaming figures, so in future videos I’ll also increase the skill level a bit and work on some more detailed and atractive miniatures.

Love this tutorial! Really! These episodes helped me a great deal. I was, for an example, one of the amateurs that never thinned the paint. I thought it looked good anyhow, gave a nice thick and dark color. However, after trying your method I got the shadows and highlights right away, and I’ve gotten tons (!) of comments on them saying stuff like “I wish my miniatures were even close to your quality”, and i’ve been painting mini’s for less than a year now!

Thank you so much for these tips! Awesome work, and great explanations!

Great to hear Martin, it’s fantastic to hear that you’re getting such good results so quickly. Painting miniatures isn’t as hard as it first seems I think, it’s just daunting to start with. Really glad I could help you out.
