Can I make a suggestion that doesn’t involve violence, or is this the wrong crowd for that?
We take the new game from the maker of Frostgrave through its paces as our crews battle for loot on an alien planet!
Ospray Games were kind enough to surprise me with a pre-release copy of Stargrave, the new game by Joseph McCullough. His Frostgrave miniatures game has been particularly popular with miniatures gamers wanting that Mordheim experience without all the hassle, and I’m happy to report that the smoothness and simplicity of that system has been ably translated into a Firefly-like future milieu. It’s a pleasure to play a game that ditches all the unnecessary complexity and fiddliness and yet still retains enough sci-fi flavour to be just as enjoyable as any number of more complicated systems—and all you need are the rules and a bunch of minis you probably have lying around anyway.
But don’t take my word for it, check out the battle report, in which Dylan and I see our crews clash over the red sands of an alien planet, in the never-ending search to steal stuff and put out of action anyone who gets in their way. Let’s be bad guys!
