The X-Files

Sorry, nobody down here but the FBI’s most unwanted.

The truth is out there. And now so is The X-Files rules summary and reference sheet.

Diddle-de-diddle-de-dum-dum-dum …. truly one of the iconic TV theme tunes of all time, and one of the most influential TV shows of all time … The X-Files seems perfectly suited for an investigative, Arkham Horror kind of game with lots of thematic detail and the frisson of conspiracy thrown in. Which is why a lot of people were a bit disappointed when Kevin Wilson (Descent: Journeys in the Dark, Sid Meier’s Civilization: The Board Game) designed a more general, family-friendly kind of mid-weight boardgame instead. Whoops. There do seem to have been a few opportunities lost here, in both the style of game and the art and design, but I have yet to get this one to the table so I’m not sure yet whether the gameplay makes up for the less-than-stellar presentation. The truth is still out there …
