Peter and Will head back to the Warhammer 40,000 universe to play Horus Heresy: Betrayal at Calth by Games Workshop.
I’ve played only one or two games of Warhammer 40,000 over the years, but I did buy in right from the start with the original Rogue Trader rulebook and some first edition metal and plastic space marines. After painting and converting them into my own ‘chapter’, the Purple Haze (complete with winged hyperdermic symbol! I thought I was so clever), they’ve languished in my figure collection for decades.
So it’s good to drag them out again for a bit of marine versus marine carnage in the newish game Horus Heresy: Betrayal at Calth. I bought a copy of the game sans miniatures on Ebay, not wishing to paint up another few sets of marines (good call really, considering the new space marines have all recently undergone the scale creep treatment). Coupled with some old Dark Angels marines, I had enough to enjoy this fast-paced, straightforward board game, and it turned out to be a lot of fun.

Two things to say about that game.
1) Those tiles are very shiny.
2) it’s your camera and your website… sometime the data gets corrupted and you lose the video… shame that… your defeat gone forever!

2) If I ‘lost’ my defeats we’d have very few battle reports. 🙂
Have you played Betrayal at Calth again and was it still fun?
And have you had chance to play ‘Burning of Prospero’ which looks similar, but with more varied miniatures?
Haven’t had a chance to play again yet! I have BoP (without the minis) but haven’t tried it yet either.
Saw someone doing an unboxing of BoP that said it was the same system, but the dice looked like standard d10, d8 and d6 and Calth has those weird dice that remind me of Dust.
It’s a different system, strangely; more geared to the psionic powers in the game.
