The Joy of Unboxing: Puppet Wars Unstitched

Hi, I’m Chucky, and I’m your friend till the end. Hidey-ho!

Let’s pick apart the puppets and unbox a copy of Puppet Wars: Unstitched by Wyrd Miniatures

Wyrd Miniatures make an unusual tabletop miniatures game called Malifaux, which I’ve yet to play. Recently I stumbled across their relatively new game Puppet Wars: Unstitched, which is set in the same universe. A very small corner of that universe in fact: a lonely witch’s cottage in a bayou where puppets animated by arcane magics conduct little wars.

The style is very ‘Tim Burton stop-motion’ and the lovely miniatures burst with character. In contrast to Deadzone, which I’m currently painting, they are made of high quality hard plastic, and there has been a lot of thought put into the way they were put in the box, plus other touches like a nice large, clear poster that clearly describes how to put them together. Mantic could learn a thing or two from Wyrd—though the box is still missing a good reference photo of the miniatures all painted up.

Look out for a rules summary later down the track and perhaps even a play session video. In the meantime, enjoy the unboxing!
